Two little boys are the heroes in this funny story. They live in neighboring areas of Dublin and, despite the differences between them, become firm friends. Both have nicknames 'Spike' because of the way his hair grows on the back of his head, and 'The Professor' because he is the studious type. They are anxious to raise money for a day trip to Cork, but all their plans have disastrous consequences.
