1. Tales for Tadpoles Christmas Gift Box

CHRISTMAS Gift Box!: Ultimate - Tales for Tadpoles

This is the easiest gift to give - we do all the work! Just provide us with the age of the child (or let us know if it's for an adult), and we will do the rest. Each gift we carefully select will be gift-wrapped, we'll write any note you want included, and we will ship the gift box direct to the recipient!

2. Dome – The Night Before Christmas

Recommended for age 7+, Mouse Mansion is a gorgeous craft gift. Children can make their very own Mouse Mansion! As well as the items you can buy, the brand have loads of YouTube videos on how to make your mansion even better using materials you may have at home. It's a lovely craft to work on together.

Sadhbh Devlin: An Fia sa Choill, illustrated by Anastasia Melnykova - Tales for Tadpoles

This is for the Gaelgoir in your life; adult or child! For a child it is recommended for competent Geailge speakers aged 8+. It tells the age-old tale of Fionn Mac Cumhaill and his mysterious wife, Sadhbh, who was transformed into a deer for refusing to marry against her will. The illustrations by Anastasia Melnykova are magical.

8 A Richard Scarry Book

Richard Scarry: The Night Before The Night Before Christmas - Tales for Tadpoles

Richard Scarry is still as popular as ever! Our favourite at the moment is his Best Storybook Ever, which has a bit of everything that he ever did. There’s a lot packed into one book so it is great value. Recommended for age 3-7

9. Janet and Allen Ahlberg: The Jolly Postman

Janet and Allan Ahlberg: The Jolly Postman or Other People's Letters - Tales for Tadpoles

Oh, this classic! The postman is delivering post to all our favourite nursery rhyme and fairy tale characters, adding to the already known stories, with envelopes and letters you actually pull out  – the first letter is one of apology from Goldilocks to the three bears! Recommended for age 4-7. There is also a Christmas edition.

10 Sine Quinn: The Faere Isle, illustrated by Dermot Flynn

Sine Quinn: The Faerie Isle, illustrated by Dermot Flynn - Tales for Tadpoles

A lot of our Irish legends are well known, but this beautifully illustrated book explore 16 different Irish faerie-folk, some much lesser-know - from trickster spirits to slippery shape-shifters, and the tiny leprechaun to the enormous giant. This is a really special gift for children aged 8+.

We have fabulous DIY craft gifts, including Book Nooks and Miniature Rooms for age 14+. Build them together and add magic to your home. Please note we will not be re-stocking these before Christmas so get yours while you can!

12 Oscar Wilde’s Stories for Children

Oscar Wilde: Stories for Children, illustrated by P.J. Lynch - Tales for Tadpoles

13 A Winne-the-Pooh Print

Print: Winnie the Pooh, Promise Me - Tales for Tadpoles

We all love Winnie the Pooh, and the message on this gorgeous mounted print is perhaps something people need to hear most. These make lovely baby gifts, or a gift for a friend/family member who needs the reminder now and then. A Winnie-the-Pooh print with one of the books would make a perfect gift.

14 Tove Jansson: The Moomins and the Great Flood (80th Anniversary Edition)

Tove Jansson: The Moomins and the Great Flood (80th anniversary edition) - Tales for Tadpoles

2025 will mark the 80th anniversary of the first ever Moomin book: The Moomins and the Great Flood. Look at the illustration of Moomintroll and Moominmamma on the cover; it's fascinating how they evolved into the Moomins we know and love today. Tove Jansson was asked to write a hopeful book at the end of the Second World War, and her world of kindness and compassion created within a world full of confusion and displacement is still so important today. This is a gorgeous new edition which would make a great gift for a collector, or as an introduction to someone who has not yet discovered them. Recommended for 7+.

15 A Clock

Clock with Pendulum: Mixer - Tales for Tadpoles

These clocks are great fun and make a great gift for a baby, or a 1-4 year old. Each clock has a fun swinging pendulum. We do hate to generalise but it is normally boys who love vehicles like this one!

These are really beautiful. Recommended for age 10+ which is the perfect age for reading the book … one of these plus the book would be a gorgeous gift for a creative and imaginative child.

18 If I Had a Little Dream

Nina Laden: If I Had a Little Dream, illustrated by Melissa Castrillon - Tales for Tadpoles

This book is a really stunning book for a new baby, or small child. The narrator is expressing wonder at the little things in life and the world, and there is a gorgeous ending: "If I had a little dream, I would name it You. You would make life magical, where wishes do come true." A really nice one to read aloud at bedtime.

20 Malachy Doyle: Tales from Old Ireland, illustrated by Niamh Sharkey

Malachy Doyle: Tales from Old Ireland, illustrated by Niamh Sharkey - Tales for Tadpoles

This is a handy one for posting to loved ones abroad (or gifting to them if they are visiting over Christmas) as not only is it paperback and relatively light, but it has a QR code leading to the audio book, which has the nice Irish accent of Maura O'Connell reading it! Recommended for age 5-8.

They are all a feast for the eyes; so beautifully illustrated, they can be enjoyed as coffee table books as well as reference ones.

23 Fungarium 1000 Piece Jigsaw

Jigsaw: Katie Scott - Fungarium (1000 pieces) - Tales for Tadpoles

This is a stunning jigsaw with an image from Fungarium (from the Welcome to the Museum series). There are 1000 pieces so definitely not for small children. Recommended for age 12+, this would be a great one to do together as a family. We have lots of games and puzzles this year for you and your family to enjoy.
