The Magic of Easter and Its Symbols
Easter is a holiday rich in symbolism, with the Easter Bunny and decorated eggs playing a central role in the festivities. The Easter Bunny, rooted in German folklore, is a beloved character that brings colourful eggs or chocolate treats to children and symbolises fertility and new beginnings. Easter eggs have been exchanged for centuries as a sign of good luck, representing the renewal of life and the arrival of spring.
As a French person, I was surprised to notice that bells are not a symbol of Easter in Ireland. In France, Easter traditions are slightly different. Instead of the Easter Bunny, church bells are said to fly to Rome on Good Friday and return on Easter Sunday, bringing chocolates and treats for children. Spring festivals and egg hunts in picturesque villages mark the season.
I'm happy to see that chocolate treats are shared tradition between our two countries, and not only for the kids!
