Our Christmas Gift Guide 2018

Our Christmas Gift Guide 2018 - Tales for Tadpoles
What a year it has been! We've met more new customers than ever before, and celebrated the release of tonnes of new and exciting books. Christmas time is coming up quick and we're excited to show off all our beautiful new gifts! Here are some of our top gift ideas for everyone in your life.

GIFTS FOR BABIES

We've got loads of brand new collections for babies this year; including traditional toys like this wooden peg puzzle, and lots of gorgeous soft toys like this adorable Winnie the Pooh.

And of course our baby booties never go out of fashion! This year we've added to our popular Peter Rabbit and Guess How Much I Love You booties with new Miffy slippers.

We've also added to our range of toddlers' eating sets, featuring some of our favourite characters like The Little PrincePeter Rabbit and Elmer.  These sets are made from bamboo or melamine, a durable plastic, so throwing and dropping will not be a problem!

GIFTS FOR HOME-LOVERS

This Christmas we've got more homeware gifts in stock than ever before, including cushions, place settings, and of course our ever-popular illustrated prints! We've expanded our Roald Dahl and Miffy ranges, as well as Alice in Wonderland. If you can get into the shop rather than shop online, we have even more (of everything) in-store, and remember - we can frame all prints in-store while you wait.

Our classic range of cushions includes our Roald Dahl/Quentin Blake cushions (which were featured on last year's Late Late Toy Show!), and hand-crafted cushions by Irish textile designer Murraymaker. This year we've added a new range of Alice in Wonderland designs by James Barker. Barker's designs are vivid but understated, they'll seamlessly blend into a grown-up classy living room, but true Alice fans will spot their references to the book's characters and scenes.

GIFTS FOR SIBLINGS TO SHARE

Sometimes when you're buying for a family with several kids, it can be hard to pick individual gifts for them without causing arguments! Our child-size aprons are perfect for families who love cooking and baking together.

A box set of books is always a good bet for siblings too. Our new 75 Years of Little Golden Books Box Set and Richard Scarry's Box Full of Bunnies are perfect for young families. Or let siblings make up their own stories with a Story Box.

GIFTS FOR BOOKWORMS

We've saved the best gifts 'til last...books of course! Reading is the best gift you can give someone, no matter what age they are. We are extremely excited to now stock some books by the afore mentioned Richard Scarry. So many of our customers (and us Tadpoles!) remember these from their own childhood and can't wait to share them with the little ones in their lives.

Some more of our new favourites include new arrivals from two of our favourite illustrators: Shirley Hughes and Shaun Tan. Shirley Hughes' Snow in the Garden: A First Book of Christmas is the perfect gift for the little person in your life.

A great choice for teenagers or adults is Shaun Tan's Tales from the Inner City, a collection of surreal stories about the relationship we have with different animals (or fish, or insect, or bird...) in our cities. As always, Shaun Tan has created something really beautiful, and each illustration is breathtaking.

If choosing a book for your beloved bookworm is too much responsibility, you can always go for a tote bag for them to carry their many books around in. We are very excited to be getting in some fabulous new Roald Dahl tote bags, including the below Matilda one. If you wish to be notified when these are in store (mid-December) just let us know!

In the meantime, happy shopping, and happy Christmas!
